I don’t understand why some people hate vegetarians so much. don’t say vegetarians push their views on people because that’s really the opposite. people who eat meat try to say meat products in deductive voices and question your health and call you an idiot for making a personal…

How is that different than people who eat meat? eating ethically should matter to everyone but you missed the point entirely. I never said we should sacrifice human rights for the sake of human rights. It was exclusive to the way people who eat meat act when they find out someone doesn’t

It’s not but they are the only ones who act as if its cruelty free, I’m not talking about reactions I’m talking about in general, meat eaters already know there is a form of cruelty whereas vegans / vegetarians act as if its so unbelievably better. So absolute.

I don’t think most vegetarians are like that. I’ve found that people who don’t eat meat also care about making sure their food is cruelty free. We all know there’s huge issues with the food industry. Also a lot of people who eat meat really believe that its fine and that the animals don’t suffer bc they’re only on earth for people to eat

I’ve seen a lot that really don’t care, I’m not knocking that lifestyle, I’m giving everyone the only important reason to dislike them. Not because of some superiority complex. That’s wack

yeah I think its important to voice all of the issues not just the hip ones but I would say most people who care about where there food comes from are in full support of ethical treatment of the people who supply it

Confused. So you don’t like vegetarians because we supposedly don’t acknowledge the issues in the food industry? Surely the fact that they’ve made the choice to be vegetarian shows that there’s some realisation there. I don’t have any friends who are vegetarian for non-religious reasons so I can’t speak on any other’s behalf but personally I abhor that you seem to be placing not just me but millions more of us in the same dismissive bracket. Sweeping generalisations and all that, you know? It’s worth pointing out that it’s difficult to actually live an entirely ethical lifestyle, how many meat eaters are guilty of the same thing? Except they hide behind the veil of “well I’m not pretending to be ethical and give a shit so I can do what I want” - a statement I’ve heard too many times. To reiterate my own point, obviously not all of them are like that, but some that I have met are. Finally, if its something you’re aware of it’s always worth bearing in mind I think that maybe other people just don’t KNOW about other atrocities that occur in the food industry and instead of just thinking of them as a lost cause/ hipsters with no values, it might actually be worth educating them? Since you must know something they don’t. Just a thought.

Whilst on the subject - as I never actually talk about being a vegetarian - I’d like to point out that it should be more of a lifestyle than a dietary choice, if you’re doing it for ethical reasons. If you don’t want animals to die for your food then they shouldn’t be dying for your make up, your cleaning products, your shoes and your fashion. And those are things you can change without giving up meat because there is no excuse for the above.
